And he insisted the Swede's injury was not career threatening.
Ibrahimovic has the option of triggering an additional year clause in his contract at Old Trafford.
But his injury means it is uncertain whether the former Ajax, PSG and Barcelona forward will be retained by United boss Jose Mourinho.
But in a post on Instagram, Ibrahimovic posted a photo of his tattooed leg in a hospital gown, thanked his fans for their support and said he was hopeful of returning soon.
He wrote: "Fixed, done and stronger.
"Once again thank you for the support. We will enjoy my game together soon."
