Joey Barton banned: FA release 63-page document explaining 18-month suspension
THE FA have published their written reasons for Joey Barton's 18-month ban from football.
Joey Barton is planning to appeal the sanction
Barton's playing career could be over after he was banned from football for a year-and-a-half on a number of betting charges.
The 34-year-old instantly hit back at the length of his ban with a huge statement, and claimed they are forcing him into an early retirement.
A summary of Joey Barton's betting activity
Barton admitted to the offences when the FA accused him of placing 1,260 bets on football matches between 2006 and 2013.
Despite admitting to making the bets, Barton has said he will look to appeal the suspension on the ground there was nothing "untoward or suspicious" about his behaviour.
The FA have now published their reasons for the length of the ban in a 63-page dossier.
Their report revealed that Barton spent £205,172 in total with a gross return of £188,464, meaning he had an overall loss of £16,708.
