NIGEL WINTERBURN doesn’t think Manchester United will return to the glory days they had under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson won the Premier League 13 times in his spell at Old Trafford, including in his final season in 2012/13.
However, Manchester United haven’t won the title since and have seen themselves fall out of the top four under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
Jose Mourinho has won the EFL Cup, is in the Europa League semi-final and has a good chance of finishing inside the top four in his first season in charge.

But Winterburn can’t see them becoming dominant in England again.
“They’ve won a trophy, they have a chance still of winning other trophies this season,” he said on Sky Sports.
“I think most people will agree there is still a lot of rebuilding to do.

“People will say they are moving in the right direction again.
“Whether they will ever get back to the giant they were under Sir Alex Ferguson and dominating the Premier League, I don’t think that will ever happen again.
“They will come back and be very competitive and you would think that would happen very quickly.”
