The report says Simeone is keen to take the France international to the San Siro and Inter have got behind the deal.
The Serie A club's owners are willing to sign the £85million striker but are aware it will be a tough battle with other European clubs hot on his heels.
Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign Griezmann and increased their efforts to do so following the long-term injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And Griezmann's agent Eric Olhats confirmed this week Real Madrid, as well as United, have already reached out to him.
"We're thinking right now about the most suitable offer. Real Madrid and other clubs are part of this thinking process," Olhats said.
"There was Manchester United who came, who inquired, they told us about their project. They were the first and most concrete in their wish."
