With speculation linking David de Gea with a move to Real Madrid, United have been considering potential replacements.
And according to the Manchester Evening News, Oblak's representative held discussions about joining United in the summer
Oblak is understood to have a £85million release clause.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has ordered the club to sign Chelsea winger Willian.
According to the Daily Star, the Reds are ready to pay £35m for the Brazilian, who has not been able to command a regular place in Antonio Conte's starting XI this season.
And the report says Mourinho is confident he will be able to sign the 28-year-old.
