Real Madrid open talks with defender: Player wants to sign, chiefs keen to get deal done
REAL MADRID are set to hand Sergio Ramos a one-year contract extension.
Sergio Ramos is said to be happy to accept a new deal at Real Madrid
Ramos, 31, signed his last deal in 2015 after a summer transfer wrangle with Manchester United.
He was understood to have been interested about moving to Old Trafford - only to commit to Real until 2020.
It was later suggested the player had used United's interest to force Real's hand.
But now he is set to be handed a contact extension without the summer furore, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Sergio Ramos is likely to give a new deal the thumbs up
Real are said to want to show they value his commitment to the club by offering him a one-year extension.
Ramos has been in inspired form for Real this season, playing a crucial part in their side which is on course for La Liga and Champions League glory.
He has played 39 games and scored 10 goals - a prolific return for a centre-back.
Both the Real directors and the player himself are happy with the deal and it's claimed Ramos will accept the terms on offer.
