Alan Shearer: Why Tottenham won’t do this against Chelsea in the FA Cup
ALAN SHEARER doesn’t expect Tottenham to copy Manchester United’s tactics when they face Chelsea.
Alan Shearer: Chelsea could have success in FA cup
Tottenham lock horns with Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday (5.15pm).
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are searching for their first FA Cup triumph in 26 years.
In the Premier League, their title chances were given a boost when Manchester United beat the Blues 2-0 yesterday at Old Trafford.
Mauricio Pochettino has already tasted victory against Chelsea this season
Alan Shearer thinks Tottenham will be confident they can handle Chelsea
Spurs will be more open and attacking knowing they have the firepower to take them down
United’s win sees the west London outfit’s lead at the top of the table trimmed to four points.
Mourinho produced a tactical masterclass as the Blues’ attacking threat was nullified.
But Shearer doesn’t think Mauricio Pochettino will resort to a similar game strategy in order to get past Antonio Conte’s men.
“It might not be the same competition but they certainly have a chance to plant more seeds of doubt in Chelsea’s minds when they meet in this Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley,” Shearer told The Sun.
Antonio Conte takes the blame for Chelsea's 2-0 loss
“Spurs already know they can beat Chelsea, having done so quite comfortably in the New Year at White Hart Lane.
“And I can see Spurs taking them on in a different way to Manchester United yesterday.
“Jose [Mourinho] had a gameplan and it worked to perfection as Diego Costa and Co were not allowed a single shot on target.
“Spurs will be more open and attacking knowing they have the firepower to take them down.”
