Manchester United transfer plans underway for £59m double deal: Club official in Spain
MANCHESTER UNITED have been scouting Espanyol duo Aaron Caricol and David Lopez, according to reports.
Manchester United are showing interest in Aaron Caricol and David Lopez
Manchester United sent a scout to watch Espanyol's 1-0 win over Alaves last Saturday.
And Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim the talent spotter was there to run the rule over defensive duo Aaron Caricol and David Lopez.
The report says United scout Toni Lima was impressed by their performances and it is not the first time he has watched them in action.
David Lopez reportedly has a £34million release clause
Gary Neville makes top four prediction at start of season
Caricol and Lopez have both become regular starters for Espanyol this season and are said to have caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.
Lopez, 27, is a versatile defensive player, operating at centre-back but also as a defensive midfielder.
And Mundo Deportivo claim he has a £34million release clause which United could comfortably match.
Caricol operates primarily as a left-back - a position which Mourinho is expected to strengthen in the summer following his heavy criticism of Luke Shaw.
The 19-year-old has made 25 appearances for Espanyol this season in all competitions and is said to have a £25m release clause.
Lopez is under contract with the Catalan side until June 2020, while Caricol's deal runs until 2022.
