Liverpool and Everton battle for Bundesliga striker: Bargain transfer fee possible
LIVERPOOL and Everton are both interested in signing Hamburg striker Bobby Wood, according to reports.
Bobby Wood has a £4.3million relegation release clause
Bobby Wood has been a stand-out player for Hamburg this season despite the club battling against relegation from the German top flight.
The USA international has scored nine goals for Markus Gisdol's side who currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga table.
And German magazine Sport Bild has claimed the 24-year-old could be available on the cheap if Hamburg go down.
Bobby Wood is reportedly wanted by eight Premier League clubs
Liverpool FC target Jordy Gaspar shows off impressive skills
The report says the Hawaiian-born striker has a relegation release clause of just £4.3million.
And this has reportedly caught the attention of a number of clubs, including rivals Liverpool and Everton.
However, they face stiff competition for his signature with a total of eight Premier League clubs showing interest in Wood.
Scouts from a number of clubs reportedly watched him in action in the 2-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on March 12.
If Hamburg do stave off relegation this season then Wood's standard release clause applies which is £10.4m.
He joined Hamburg from Union Berlin last summer and is under contract at the Volksparkstadion until June 2020.
