However, the Chile international had to be substituted due to injury, crowning a disastrous day for Arsenal.
Shearer blasted Sanchez’s team-mates for their lack of fight at West Brom, and suggested their performances highlighted they are not playing for Wenger.
“West Brom bullied Arsenal all over the park, and deserve credit,” Shearer said on BBC’s Match of the Day.

“His (Wenger’s) players spoke today in that game, and judging by that and recent performances, they don’t want him in that job.
“They lacked heart, fight, direction.
“Every player other than Sanchez was pretty embarrassing.
“Arsenal were so open it was incredible.”

On West Brom’s first goal where Dawson was allowed a free run at the ball, Shearer added: “It was like Under-10s defending. I don’t know what (Aaron) Ramsey is doing. It’s just embarrassing.
“There’s no way you can defend like that and expect to win a football match.”
Despite the hostility towards Wenger among fans at Arsenal’s current situation, Express Sport understands he is set to sign a one-year extension.
