REAL MADRID and Argentina both suffer without Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, according to former Barcelona star Juan Roman Riquelme.

Ronaldo and Messi have both been in stunning form this season, scoring 71 goals between them.
Their stunning individual performances have helped Real Madrid and Barcelona up to first and second in the La Liga table respectively.
However, for Messi, it has been a different story on the international stage.

While Ronaldo has scored seven goals from four games for Portugal, Messi has managed just one for Argentina.
And Riquelme believes Argentina and Real Madrid struggle whenever their best players are sidelined.
"Argentina without Messi is a normal team, but this of course the best player in the world," the ex-Barcelona player told Chilean TV station Canal 13.

Both players are currently vying for the Golden Shoe award to become Europe's top scorer.
Messi is winning that race with 23 league goals, two more than Andrea Belotti, Bas Dost and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
