MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have reportedly lost out on a deal to sign Lazio star Stefan De Vrij in the summer.

The 25-year-old has been a long standing Premier League target.
Express Sport understands Lazio are willing to sell the defender, who has yet to pen a contract extension.
It is believed they won’t let him leave for less than £30million.
After lavishing over £150m on new players last year, Jose Mourinho is keen to invest heavily again at the end of the season to bolster Manchester United’s chances of making them champions next season.
Chelsea meanwhile, under Antonio Conte, have been keeping an eye on De Vrij, as he is keen to strengthen his rearguard.

With John Terry expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, the Blues are currently assessing their options, and the Daily Star reported Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is on their radar.
But Italian paper Gazetta dello Sport claim Inter Milan have struck an agreement to sign De Vrij.
The only stumbling block to a deal being completed is the fee.
It is said Inter aren’t prepared to pay more than £20m for him.
