ARSENAL star Mesut Ozil has confirmed Manchester United wanted to sign him back in 2010.

Ozil is currently in his fourth season with Arsenal after moving from Real Madrid back in 2013.
However, his future at the Emirates is uncertain beyond the current campaign with his contract expiring next summer.
The 28-year-old has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich and Manchester United in recent months.

And Ozil has claimed that both clubs, as well as Arsenal, wanted to sign him after his exploits for Germany at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
“Arsenal were interested in signing me after the 2010 World Cup, as were Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid,” he said in his autobiography Magic of the Game, which is being serialised by German newspaper Bild.
“My agent sat down with Bayern to discuss a move.

“The club told him about their plans with me and how they intended to use me.
“He had similar talks with the other clubs that wanted me.”
United’s loss was Arsenal’s gain with the playmaker being a big hit at the Emirates.
Ozil has scored nine goals from 27 games to help the Gunners up to fourth in the Premier League table.
