ATLETICO MADRID star Fernando Torres has suffered a serious injury in action against Deportivo tonight.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker was knocked out after a clash with Deportivo defender Alex Bergantinos.
Atletico say the forward has suffered a traumatic brain injury.
"Suffered a traumatic brain injury," they said on Twitter.
"He was taken to the hospital for testing. You will spend the night watching."

Fernando Torres has been taken to hospital
The La Liga giants have since said that Torres is conscious and stabalised.
"Thanks for the messages of support to @Torres," they added.
"It is conscious and stabilized. You will pass the night in observation and tomorrow will make more tests."
Atletico players were visibly concerned by the injury with several members of the squad in tears.

Manager Diego Simeone said: "We are worried and nervous by Torres.
"I heard it [the blow] was in the neck."
Atletico ended up drawing the game 1-1 with Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann getting on the scoresheet.
Torres' brother tweeted: "Good night and thanks to all the world by the samples of support and the concern."

Atletico have since confirmed that scans have showed Torres hasn't sustained any lasting damage.
"Good news (1/2) @Torres has been le TAC cranial and cervical. There are no alterations or traumatic injuries," they said.
"Good news (2/2) @Torres, conscious and oriented, will spend the night under observation in the hospital by medical Protocol."
