SERGIO AGUERO could have been a Real Madrid player had it not been for a contract clause, former chief Ramon Calderon has revealed.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Sergio Aguero ever since his days at bitter rivals Atletico Madrid.
However, the La Liga giants missed out on the Argentina international in 2011 after he opted for a move to Manchester City.

And former Real chief Calderon has revealed his move to the Bernabeu was scuppered by a clause within his contract that prevented him from joining Real.
"He was a very good player when he played for Atletico and at the time we were trying to sign him but there was a clause that avoided him signing for Real and he went to England," Calderon told talkSPORT.
Aguero's future at Manchester City is in doubt following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus
Real have been linked with a fresh approach for Aguero this summer, with his future in doubt following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
But Calderon has poured cold water on Real renewing their interest in 28-year-old.
"It depends on what is happening for the rest of the season. If Guardiola is happy with him and the player is happy with him and the team, that is all that matters."
