Pundit: This is why I agree with Wenger's decision to start Ospina in the Champions League
ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger is right to start David Ospina over Petr Cech in the Champions League, according to Charlie Nicholas.
Charlie Nicholas reckons David Ospina deserves to start for Arsenal in the Champions League
The Arsenal manager has opted to start Ospina ahead of Cech in each and every one of their Champions League games this season and will do so again against Bayern Munich tonight.
This decision to start the back-up goalkeeper has come under criticism, but Nicholas reckons Arsene Wenger is making the right call as he feels Cech's form has dipped recently.
Nicholas reckons Petr Cech's form has been a bit 'iffy' recently
“I was as thrilled as anybody when Arsenal signed Petr Cech. He was a top class goalkeeper,” Nicholas told talkSPORT.
“For me he’s starting to look a little bit iffy, he’s not quite as agile as what I have seen before.
Nicholas insists Arsene Wenger has made the right decision to start Ospina against Bayern Munich
“He doesn’t really come for the crosses when Arsenal are not good at defending crosses.
“So I don’t really have an issue with that [bringing in Ospina]. I think that’s just the way it’s always been planned.
“If Ospina plays really well tonight I would be tempted to think that Wenger might say well maybe it is time to give him a run.”
