CHELSEA reportedly made a £40million bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele on deadline day which was rejected.
Celtic reportedly rejected a £40m bid for Moussa Dembele from Chelsea
Moussa Dembele emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea on deadline day.
Celtic reportedly put a £40million asking price on the former Fulham man who cost them just £500,000 in compensation fees.
However, reports in France suggest the Blues did match the club's transfer demands but were turned down.
Foot Mercato reporter Khaled Karouri has claimed the Stamford Bridge club made a €47m bid (£40m).
"Chelsea made an offer of nearly €47million for Moussa Dembele. But the Celtic has declined. As he tweeted, Dembele remains," Karouri tweeted.
Talk of Dembele joining Chelsea yesterday was heightened when the Frenchman was spotted boarding a flight to London.

The 20-year-old flew to the capital for a consultation with a doctor about an ongoing knee problem.
But he swiftly returned to Scotland and posted a photo of himself in his Celtic shirt on Twitter with the caption 'what else?' to allay fans' fears.
Demebele is under contract at Celtic Park until May 2020.
