Antonio Conte is keen to beef up his midfield, although he has failed to make an acquisition this month.
The Italian tactician managed to keep hold of Cesc Fabregas, but it is thought three clubs will come back in for him in the summer.
Vidal joined Bayern in a £25.5m deal from Juventus two years ago, but according to Chilean paper El Mercurio, Conte has set his sights on the 29-year-old.

The report suggests the Blues board have given their approval for a move to take place at the end of the season.
Conte knows the midfielder well from their time spent together at Juve, as they won three Serie A titles before Conte took up the role of Italy coach.
He is also believed to have contacted Vidal with a view to seeing if he would be interested in moving to Stamford Bridge.
