Kenyon acts as a special adviser to Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson and regularly sits next to Gibson in the directors’ box on match days.
The Daily Mail claim he used his inside knowledge of Chelsea to help get a deal over the line for Bamford.

Bamford will be hoping to kick-on at Middlesbrough after a string of unsuccessful loan spells in recent seasons.
The 23-year-old struggled at Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley and never made a senior appearance for Chelsea.
The striker has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with Boro, keeping him at the Riverside until June 2021.
