Arsenal ace hails Gunners idol: He will be remembered here forever
GABRIEL PAULISTA believes fellow Brazilian Gilberto Silva will be remembered at Arsenal forever.
Murphy on Ozil and Sanchez: They make Arsenal exceptional
The Gunners defender tracked his compatriot’s Premier League career as Gilberto captained Arsenal a decade ago.
The 40-year-old spent six years with Arsenal and was a key member of their Invincibles squad of 2004.
Gilberto also won two FA Cups under Arsene Wenger and was a member of the Gunners’ side which finished as Champions League runners-up in 2006.
Gabriel Paulista followed fellow Brazilian Gilberto Silva's career at Arsenal
Gilberto Silva was an idol here, and a good captain of this club and a champion
Gabriel acknowledges the achievements his hero had in England and won’t forget his impact at Arsenal.
“When I started following the Premier League, I would say the Brazilians from Arsenal,” Gabriel told the Premier League.
“Gilberto Silva was an idol here, and a good captain of this club and a champion.
“He will always be remembered here, and for me as well.”
Gabriel helped Arsenal beat Swansea 4-0 on Saturday
Gabriel has failed to make as big an impression in an Arsenal shirt as their former centre-midfield skipper.
However, Wenger has used the centre-half in the Gunners’ last nine Premier League matches.
And with Hector Bellerin having missed Saturday’s 4-0 win at Swansea through injury, Gabriel could fill in at right-back again for the visit of Burnley this Sunday (2.15pm).
