The right-back last penned a contract extension back in 2014 under former boss Louis van Gaal.
The three-year agreement was due to expire in the summer but Manchester United have triggered a clause to extend his stay by another year.

It will take the player’s stint into a ninth season with the 31-year-old now one of the club’s most senior players.
Valencia was initially signed as a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement from Wigan in 2009.

But he has since established himself as the club’s first-choice right-back ahead of Rafael, who left for Lyon, and Matteo Darmian.
Valencia is the second United player to extend their stay at Old Trafford in the last week.
The club triggered a similar clause in Marouane Fellaini’s contract, with the Belgium international then helping United salvage a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
