Express Sport understands Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Rodriguez.
Jose Mourinho views him as the perfect addition to help bolster United's hopes of a first Premier League title since 2013.

James Rodriguez is wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea
The club are keen to keep him at least until the summer, where they believe they can recoup most of the £60million they paid to sign him from Monaco in 2014.
However, Spanish website Don Balon claim that Ronaldo has advised Rodriguez against a move to Old Trafford.
It is said that the former United star believes the player would struggle under the strict regime of Jose Mourinho.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a rocky relationship with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid
Ronaldo played under Mourinho for three years at Madrid - winning La Liga in 2012 - but fell out with the ex-Chelsea boss during his final season in the Spanish capital.
It is also reported that United have a deal in place to sign Rodriguez at the end of the season.
But Ronaldo is doing all he can to prevent his team-mate moving to Old Trafford.
