Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
However, The Mirror claim Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign the 22-year-old Monaco midfielder and has made him his top target in January.
Mourinho admitted last week he would be seeking a new 'number six' as he plans an overhaul of United's squad over the next two transfer windows.

And Bakayoko would fit the bill, establishing himself as Monaco's first-choice defensive midfielder over the past two seasons.
Monaco are reportedly open to the idea of selling their star man in January and have put a £22million price-tag on his head.
The French club are said to have come around to idea of cashing in on Bakayoko due to the high level of interest in him.
United are already making plans for his arrival and are close to offloading Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton.
The former Southampton man joined the Red Devils in 2015 but has struggled to make inroads into the first-team and looks set to leave.
However, Bakayoko's arrival at Old Trafford may not be straight forward due to the high level of interest from Chelsea.

The Blues are said to be keen to bring in midfield reinforcements after selling John Obi Mikel and Oscar this month and have set their sights on Bakayoko.
The France Under-21 international has made 67 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, scoring four goals.
He is under contract at the Stade Louis II stadium until June 2019.
