Exclusive: Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce targeting a move for Wales international
CRYSTAL PALACE boss Sam Allardyce is ready to switch his attention to Wales international Ben Davies as he steps up his search for a new left back.
Sam Allardyce is eyeing a move for Tottenham full-back Ben Davies
Crystal Palace have been in the market for a new left back since Pape Souare’s September car crash that has placed his career in doubt.
Davies is stuck behind Danny Rose in the pecking order at Tottenham and is keen to move away for more regular starts.
He had been attracting the attention of Chelsea but their interest has cooled over the last the few weeks.
Ben Davies has made just three league starts this season
Allardyce has made enquiries about Sunderland’s Patrick Van Aanholt but David Moyes doesn’t want to sell despite only having limited funds.
Davies has spent two seasons at White Hart Lane moving with Michel Vorm in a deal that saw Gylfi Sigurðsson return to Swansea City.
Robbie Brady is also a target of Sam Allardyce
But it remains to be seen if Tottenham are willing to part with the player before the summer especially as they are still in the Europa League.
Allardyce is also keen on Norwich City’s Robbie Brady but is facing competition for him from Premier League champions Leicester City.
