The midfielder pulled up last night in Arsenal's 3-3 draw with Bournemouth, sitting down on the Vitality Stadium pitch.
He was substituted after just 28 minutes, despite only playing 18 minutes against Crystal Palace two days earlier.
And Arsene Wenger expressed his concern at how Coquelin could not bring himself to continue.
"Coquelin has a hamstring (problem)," Wenger said.

Usually when [Coquelin] sits down and comes off it's not so good news
"It's too early, we have to wait 48 hours for the scan and the result. But usually when he sits down and comes off it's not so good news.
"If it's just tiredness he will try to play on but he didn't even try to play again."
Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny also failed to see out the contest, having been replaced by Gabriel midway through the second half.

Laurent Koscielny was only substituted for Arsenal as a precaution due to cramp
However, Wenger was able to provide more positive news for supporters on the centre-half's condition.
On why Koscielny was brought off, the Gunners boss added: "He was tired, he had cramps in both legs and that’s why I decided to take him off."
Arsenal have a few days rest now before their next test at Championship side Preston on Saturday (5.30pm) in the FA Cup third round.
