Mkhitaryan: Real Madrid boss Zidane is my hero… but I loved watching this Man United icon
MANCHESTER UNITED star Henrik Mkhitaryan has named Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as his childhood hero.

The iconic France midfielder was an inspiration to Mkhitaryan during his development.
Both players carry similar traits, as the Manchester United playmaker is also a talented dribbler, creator and goalscorer.
Since retiring from international and club football in 2006, Zidane has turned to coaching and has excelled so far as Madrid boss.
And Henrikh Mkhitaryan has paid tribute to the 1998 Ballon d’Or winner.

“Zinedine Zidane [was my football hero growing up], not just for his vision on the pitch but for the fact he was such a leader,” Mkhitaryan told Man United’s official website.
“He was always talking to his team-mates and helping them.”
United fans may worry Mkhitaryan’s admiration for Zidane could play a factor in his future down the line.
But the 27-year-old Armenia international also outlined his fond memories of the Red Devils in earlier Premier League years.

He added: “I started watching United at the time when Eric Cantona was in the team, and I loved watching him play.
“Andrei Kanchelskis was another who I'd keep an eye out for - as he was a Russian player I found that very interesting.
“But, in terms of a United idol, that would have to be Sir Alex Ferguson.”
