Batshuayi was expected to start for the Blues at Stamford Bridge with main striker Diego Costa suspended.
However Conte decided to start with a front three of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian.
And his decision was justified as Chelsea won 3-0 with goals by Hazard and Pedro.
After the match Conte told Batshuayi to remain patient for chance.
He said: “This is the first time we played without a real forward, we tried this in training and I think for us at the moment this situation is the best, but I don’t forget Michy [Batshuayi] because he is a young player with great talent.
