Rangers transfer boost: Top target will be allowed to leave club in January
RANGERS appear to be closing in on a deal for Jota.
Jota looks set to leave Eibar in January and could be heading to Rangers
The midfielder is on loan at Spanish club Eibar but is set to be sent back to Brentford after a disappointing six months.
Eibar sporting director Fran Garagarza said: "Brentford have an option to recall Jota from his loan in January.
"He's disappointed that he hasn't played more games for us and he is within his rights to ask for the loan deal to be terminated. If the player wants that and Brentford wants that, then it's up to them and there's nothing we can do.
Jota is still owned by Brentford and is expected to return in January
"He trains well, he is very methodical, calm, correct, respectful and has never had any negative gestures towards the coaching staff. But he expected to play more and is not satisfied because of that."
And Rangers are in need of a creative midfielder following the injury to Niko Kranjcar and the termination of Joey Barton’s contract.
'I stand by Joey Barton signing' - Mark Warburton
Rangers have improved in recent weeks, winning three games in a row for the first time this season, and look to have a hold on second place.
But Mark Warburton is keen to reinforce his squad in January and Jota appears to be his top target.
“We have one or two that we’re looking at and if we can get them over the line then all well and good,” he said.
