Man Utd ace spoiled Mourinho’s performance: Tottenham defeat will be a disaster - Merson
A DEFEAT against Tottenham will end Manchester United’s title chances.
Man United could win the league says fan
That is the assessment of former Arsenal winger-turned-pundit Paul Merson.
Jose Mourinho’s men take on the north London outfit at Old Trafford on Sunday (2.15pm) knowing a win will close the gap on fifth-placed Spurs to three points.
Manchester United sit sixth in the table, having won just five of their opening 14 matches.
Chelsea are already running away with the title with Antonio Conte’s men 13 points ahead of the Red Devils.

Marouane Fellaini came on from the bench in the 85th minute against Everton
If Man Utd lose this game, it's the middle of December and they are out of the title race
And Merson reckons anything but a win against Spurs could spell the end of Mourinho’s dreams of winning silverware come May.
“If Man Utd lose this game, it's the middle of December and they are out of the title race,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They'll be struggling to stay in the top-four hunt too, with fifth-place Spurs already six points ahead of Jose Mourinho's side. They can't allow that gap to grow to nine.”
United’s performances in the league of late have seen them struggle to see out games to take home all three points with silly mistakes costing them - none more so than Marouane Fellaini last week.
Marouane Fellaini gave a penalty away shortly after entering the field
The Belgian came on as a substitute against Everton with United leading in the 85th minute, only to concede a penalty for a clumsy tackle on Idrissa Gueye almost straight away.
And Merson wasn’t too forgiving on the midfielder's brief display.
He added: “I think they're playing well enough at the moment and creating chances, and before Marouane Fellaini came on against Everton, it was a very Jose Mourinho performance at Goodison.
“It's how they turn those draws into wins, but I'm backing them to figure it out against Tottenham.”
