The Times claim that he wanted to ensure deals for assistant boss Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz were thrashed out before he put pen to paper.

Krawietz, who was chief scout at Mainz, also followed Klopp to Anfield.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be looking to keep up their good form without Philippe Coutinho when they face Bournemouth on Sunday (1:30pm).
