Manchester United in transfer battle with Inter Milan for Brazilian ace
MANCHESTER UNITED will go head-to-head with Inter Milan to sign Corinthians left-back Guilherme Arana, according to reports.
Guilherme Arana is reportedly set to replace Luke Shaw at Manchester United
Arana is being touted as a potential replacement for Luke Shaw who has fallen out of favour at Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho openly criticised the 21-year-old this month, questioning his motives for pulling out of the game against Swansea.
Mourinho said he needed "brave" players with Shaw not featuring in a single Premier League match-day squad since.
Guilherme Arana has also caught the attention of Serie A giants Inter Milan
Italian website CalcioMercato claim United are keen to bring in Arana from Brazilian side Corinthians.
The Red Devils are said to have recently met with the 19-year-old defender's representatives.
However, the report claims they face competition for his signature from Serie A giants Inter.
Arana's representative Leo Cornacini hinted at a deal with United earlier this month when he posted photos of himself at Old Trafford.
"Great pleasure to meet again these amazing people," the photo caption read.
Shaw, meanwhile, is being linked with a loan move to Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Luke Shaw's days good be numbered with the arrival of Guilherme Arana
However, The Sun claim he does not want to leave in January and will stay and fight for his place in the squad.
Shaw joined United from Southampton in 2014 but has been hampered by injuries, making just 28 Premier League appearances.
He is under contract with United until June 2018.
