Liverpool legend warns Reds against this when they face Leeds in the EFL Cup quarter-final
ROBBIE FOWLER has told Liverpool not to underestimate Leeds when the Championship club visit Anfield for the EFL Cup quarter-final tomorrow (7.45pm).
Klopp feeling 'optimistic' about Coutinho's injury
Liverpool return to cup action tomorrow night when Championship promotion-chasers Leeds come to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a number of changes from their 2-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend but will be unable to call upon the services of Philippe Coutinho who should learn the extent of his injury today.
The likes of Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino are also expected to be missing from the Liverpool squad with niggling injuries, leaving the door open to the fringe players.
Robbie Fowler has warned Liverpool against complacency when they face Leeds
Adam Lallana is likely not to be risked by Jurgen Klopp
But Fowler has warned whoever lines up for Liverpool should not expect Leeds to role over in their cup tie.
“For me, you treat every game the same – whether you’re playing Manchester United or a lower-league side,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“You go out there and play to your utmost. If you go into any game and your mindset alters in any way, that’s why you see upsets. It should never be the case.
Trent Alexander-Arnold could be in line to start for Liverpool
Ovie Ejaria could also be in line to play against Leeds
“On paper, Liverpool should be winning relatively easily. But the Leeds team, playing against a Premier League side and playing against Liverpool, will raise their game.
“It’s all about Liverpool – if they go out and play the way they can, I shouldn’t foresee any problems.”
Simon Mignolet is expected to start in place of Loris Karius while youngsters Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ovie Ejaria, Kevin Stewart and Ben Woodburn - who came on for his debut against Sunderland - will be hoping to feature in the cup tie.
