Jermain Defoe reveals what Jurgen Klopp asked his Liverpool staff after taking Anfield job
SUNDERLAND striker Jermain Defoe has revealed what Jurgen Klopp's first question was to his Liverpool staff after taking the job.
Jurgen Klopp wanted to know who Liverpool's fittest player was
Jurgen Klopp took charge at Liverpool in October last year as the replacement of sacked manager Brendan Rodgers.
And Jermain Defoe claims Klopp first asked his staff who the fittest player at Anfield was, which turned out to be midfielder Adam Lallana.
Jurgen Klopp was told Adam Lallana was Liverpool's fittest player
Defoe told Goals on Sunday: "Apparently when Klopp went in, I think the first question he asked the staff was, 'Who's the fittest player at the club?'
"I think they said Lallana. What he wanted to do was to get everyone at that level and that's the first question he asked, nothing about the football."
Lallana has been a regular feature of Klopp's startling line-up this season, having only missed the last two Premier League games through injury.
Jermain Defoe saw Sunderland lose 2-0 to Liverpool on Saturday
The England international has helped Liverpool to second in the table after 13 games with three goals and five assists so far.
The Reds beat Defoe's Sunderland 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday thanks to a Divock Origi goal and a James Milner penalty in stoppage time.
