MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made contact with Victor Lindelof’s representatives over a January move.
Jose Mourinho - 5 things you need to know
Jose Mourinho has already made signing a defender for Manchester United a priority.
With Eric Bailly heading to the Africa Cup of Nations in January and Chris Smalling currently sidelined with a toe injury, United are in desperate need of a centre-back.
Recent reports have suggested United are keen on a move for the 22-year-old Lindelof, who currently plies his trade with Benfica.
And now, according to Portuguese paper O Jogo, the Red Devils have got in touch with Lindelof’s agent.

It is believed United are confident they can push through a deal for the £25m-rated defender when the transfer window reopens.
They were also thought to have sent scouts to watch Lindelof in action for Benfica nine days ago.
Lindelof’s quality has not gone unnoticed by current United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who thinks he would fit in well at Old Trafford should the club clinch his signature.

“I think Victor is doing great things, he is playing good for Benfica, he gets a lot of responsibility for the national team now,” Ibrahimovic said.
“He is growing. Is he good enough for United? I think he's good enough for the big clubs out there.
“It's up to him what he wants and what the situation says.
“Whatever he chooses will be good for him. I know he is hot on the market so let him make the right choice, what fits him good.”
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham in the Premier League yesterday.
