Liverpool ace: I don’t expect Jurgen Klopp to do this for me
JAMES MILNER concedes he doesn’t expect any favours from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Southampton vs Liverpool - Premier League match preview
Milner, who flourished as a midfielder for Liverpool last term, has had to adapt to a new role of left-back.
With Alberto Moreno failing to impress in that position, Klopp laid down the gauntlet for Milner.
Although left-back is seen as a weak spot for the Reds, they currently top the Premier League table - a point ahead of nearest rivals Chelsea.
James Milner appears to be happy playing at centre-back
Jurgen Klopp has enjoyed a fine season so far
Klopp is thought to be on the hunt for a new left-back, and is believed to be drawing a list of targets ahead of next summer.
But despite making a sacrifice, Milner doesn’t think it is fair for Klopp to discard his transfer plans to keep him happy.
“It is down to me to make sure they don’t buy a left back. He doesn’t owe me anything,” Milner told The Times.

“I am a Liverpool player, he is the manager, he picks the best team to win and it is my job to make sure that what is best for Liverpool is me.
“You read a lot about players not being honourable and loyal, but clubs are not loyal to players either.
“But we know what business it is.”
Liverpool will be hoping to keep up their good form when they host Southampton later today (3pm).
