Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger makes double Alexis Sanchez admission
ARSENE WENGER admitted he fell asleep trying to stay awake to see Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez play on Wednesday morning.
Wenger says big players learn from their mistakes
Chile’s World Cup qualifier with Uruguay kicked off at 11.30pm in UK time, as Alexis Sanchez returned to their starting XI.
Following the Arsenal forward’s hamstring scare last week, he shrugged off a problem to play 83 minutes of the 3-1 win, scoring twice in the process.
Gunners boss Wenger must now determine if the 27-year-old is fit to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday (12.30pm).
Arsene Wenger watches as many games on TV as possible but couldn't stay awake to see Alexis Sanchez
And speaking at his press conference yesterday, Wenger confessed he had only seen the Chilean’s goals and not the whole match as planned.
“I fell asleep,” Wenger laughed. “I have [since] watched the goals and he looked very sharp. I will watch the game today.
“I know him so well, like all my players that I observe every day, so I will be able to see if he was playing with a restriction or not.

He always says he is okay! It is a very difficult one because I am sure he will come back saying he is alright
The Arsenal manager added: “He always says he is okay! It is a very difficult one because I am sure he will come back saying he is alright.
“What I will consider is the risk of injury, because he played while recovering from a hamstring injury. I’ll consider the way he feels as well."
If Sanchez is left out of the team at United, Wenger is expected to opt for Olivier Giroud as a straight swap to lead his line against Jose Mourinho’s men.
