The process of due diligence is ongoing
According to the report, Allam is far from securing a deal but has set out a timeline for the takeover to be complete.
Ideally Hull should have new owners installed before the January transfer window opens.
"The process of due diligence is ongoing but it is unclear whether this will be completed before or after the transfer window," said a club spokesman.
"If the takeover of the club can't be done before the window then talks will be suspended."
Hull was put up for sale in 2014 - before they were relegated to the Championship that season.
They bounced back under Steve Bruce's management last term to complete an immediate return to the Premier League and sit 18th in the league after 11 games this season - one point off safety.
