To give myself the best opportunity to play for England and improve myself as a player, I had to move
Arsenal signed midfielder Granit Xhaka in the summer to further put Wilshere’s Emirates Stadium career in doubt.
And the 24-year-old, who has made 10 appearances for Bournemouth this season, believes his move to the south coast has paid off as he prepares to play for England against Spain tonight (8pm).
“There’s no better feeling than playing week in and week out in the Premier League,” Wilshere said in today’s matchday programme.
“At Arsenal, that wasn’t happening. I came back from injury and I was on the bench and I knew that to give myself the best opportunity to play for England and improve myself as a player, I had to move.
“At the moment, it’s going well. I really like the manager and it’s a good set of lads, we all get on really well and it’s looking like we have a good team as well, we’re improving every week and we work hard.”
