Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger are considering raiding Manchester United
The United boss is set to ditch Wayne Rooney at the end of the season - but is also planning a New Year overhaul.
The likes of Shaw, Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Marouane Fellaini, Memphis Depay and Ashley Young all all under threat.
And United have sparked interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of Chris Smalling, with Arsene Wenger missing out on the defender when he joined United from Fulham for £10million in 2010.
Jose Mourinho is not happy with the state of his Manchester United squad
The Sunday Mirror say Gunners boss Wenger would be a bidder for Smalling, 26, should he become available despite spending around £35m on cente-back Shokhdran Mustafi in the summer.
And Liverpool have emerged as suitors for Luke Shaw, who Mourinho is thought to be unconvinced about.
The Daily Star Sunday say Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a left-back and is eyeing 21-year-old Shaw.
United would be unlikely to want to do business with either Liverpool or Arsenal given they are direct rivals.
