Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is supposedly keen to shake up his squad and Fabregas has been linked with a move away in the New Year.
The Daily Mail claim Spain international Fabregas wants to fight for his place in Conte's XI for the rest of the campaign.
But reports in Italy suggest Conte has already made up his mind about the 29-year-old.

According to newspaper Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan are eyeing a move for Fabregas in January, while city rivals Inter Milan are also interested.
Milan manager Vincenzo Montella is supposedly a fan of the former Arsenal star and will seek to do a deal after Christmas.
Both Milan clubs have been taken over by Chinese consortiums and supposedly have money to spend in the transfer market.
However, a loan deal for Fabregas may be a more viable option considering his high wages at Stamford Bridge.

The report claims that Conte has already proposed Inter's Marcelo Brozovic or Javier Pastore of Paris Saint-Germain as replacements.
Italian website Gazza Mercato - an offshoot of newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport - claim Blues owner Roman Abramovich would be willing to back Conte with up to £35.6m (€40m) to sign either target.
