KEVIN STEWART has shed some light on Jordan Henderson's role as Liverpool captain.

Henderson had the tough task of filling Steven Gerrard's shoes when he departed for LA Galaxy last year.
But under Brendan Rodgers, and now Jurgen Klopp, Henderson has grabbed the captain's armband with both hands in his bid to bring success to Merseyside.
And Stewart, who put in an impressive display in Liverpool's 2-1 EFL Cup win over Tottenham on Tuesday night, says Henderson is a good role model for the younger players coming through the ranks.

When the front players need to do their bit, he’s always there for insurance. He’s just a leader in general.
"He’s a really cool guy,” Stewart told the club's website. “He doesn’t come across as a big, scary captain.
“He’s a really calm, settled guy and is really approachable. That’s perfect for younger players to not feel too intimidated.
“He’s very consistent. He rarely gives the ball away, he’s really safe in his play, defensively really good and offers a lot of protection.

“He is really experienced and has gone down the path I want to in the future.
“To see what he goes through and what he is doing is really important, to have a look and not copy him exactly but learn from what he does.”
Henderson will lead his side out at Selhurst Park tomorrow (5.30pm) when Liverpool play Crystal Palace.
