Ex-Tottenham forward Nacer Chadli threatened to ruin his former club's best ever start to a Premier League season when he scored for West Brom with eight minutes remaining.
But Dele Alli hit the net in the penultimate minute of normal time to ensure the points were shared at The Hawthorns.
Alderweireld was taken off on a stretcher with an hour gone after landing awkwardly during the clash.

And his Argentinian manager is not optimistic about his recovery ahead of Spurs' Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday (7.45pm).
"With Toby we need to wait 24-48 hours," Pochettino said.
"He got a heavy knock in his leg.
"But we need to assess tomorrow with a scan or whatever the doctors want to do.
"We need to be clear what happened in his leg. I don't know exactly what happened, it was hard for me to see from the bench.
"All I said was, 'How are you?' And he explained he had pain.
"It is a big area: knee, leg, all."
