Confirmed: Former Leeds star joins Championship rivals after leaving Elland Road in summer
CARDIFF have announced the signing of experienced defender Sol Bamba.
Sol Bamba was released by Leeds in the summer
The Ivory Coast international arrives at the Cardiff City Stadium on a free transfer after he was released by Leeds at the end of last season.
Bamba, 31, spent a season at Elland Road as captain after a successful 2014/15 loan spell.
The former Paris Saint-Germain youth joins Cardiff sitting 23rd in the Championship table and is confident his experience can help lift his new side out of the relegation zone.
“I’m excited to be here," Bamba said. "I always want to work with the gaffer, so as soon as this chance arose I jumped at it.
“I know [the Championship] very well and am looking forward to offering my experience and leadership to Cardiff City.”

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock admits he attempted to sign Bamba, then at Leicester, a number of times when he was in charge at QPR.
The 67-year-old added: “I tried to sign Sol a few years ago when he was at Leicester, on a couple of occasions.
"They didn’t come off then, but now is the right time and opportunity to bring him in. Sol’s a leader and he’s another good addition for us.”
