Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink puts week of misery behind him as QPR beat Fulham
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK said victory over Fulham was the perfect tonic after a tough week in which he feels he has been “fighting everybody”.
Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink ended a painful week with a win over Fulham
The QPR boss, who has been named in the Daily Telegraph’s investigation into alleged corruption in football, saw Idrissa Sylla’s 87th-minute header win the west London derby after what he described as “a very difficult few days.”
Fulham paid the price for missing two penalties – including a stoppagetime award which Hasselbaink labelled “ridiculous”.
When Tom Cairney’s fifth-minute penalty was saved by Rangers goalkeeper Alex Smithies it set the tone for the hosts, who fell behind to Conor Washington’s deflected 20th-minute strike.
Fulham netted via Tim Ream in the 47th minute but chances continued to go begging before Sylla headed home.
And Sone Aluko missed his last-gasp spot-kick in Fulham’s seventh game without a win. Boss Slavisa Jokanovic admitted: “It’s very frustrating.”
