Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho gave Manchester City a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
Mourinho made two changes for the clash, starting Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard in place of Juan Mata and Anthony Martial for the match.
But he has now revealed he would have named a different starting XI if he knew how some of his players would perform.
“Look, I have two or three players in the first half who if I know what was going to happen I would not play them," he told Sky Sports.
"Sometimes players disappoint managers.

“They didn’t give me what I want.
"It’s their fault it’s my fault.”
Mourinho also though United should have had atleast one penalty at Old Trafford.
“Outside the box [Claudio Bravo’s challenge] is a free-kick and a red card," Mourinho added.
"It was a penalty.
“The second one [Nicolas Otamendi ‘handball’] also is a penalty.”
