Forward puts Euro 2016 ‘disaster’ down to being overworked at Manchester United
ANTHONY MARTIAL admits he failed to balance his increased workload at Manchester United last season - and that it cost him game time at Euro 2016.
The future of Man Utd: Incredible assist from Pogba and goal from Martial
Martial played 49 games in his debut campaign at United after completing his £36million transfer from Monaco.
But he was restricted to just three appearances at Euro 2016 with France and made little impact in their 1-0 final defeat to Portugal in Paris.
The 20-year-old was a regular for the Ligue 1 side before his switch but revealed moving to Manchester was a learning curve.
Martial was speaking after scoring in France’s 3-1 friendly win over Italy on Thursday - his first goal for his country.
"I had been waiting for that for 13 matches," Martial said.
