Larsson, who played for the Red Devils for a few short, fleeting months in 2007, has been impressed with the 18-year-old's career so far.
Rashford was a relative unknown before last season, but broke onto the scene with back-to-back braces in his first two games against FC Midtjylland and Arsenal in February.
And Larsson, who scored a stunning 434 goals in 768 career games, reckons United's golden boy has the potential to be one of the best strikers in world football.
I've seen a little bit of Marcus Rashford and he looks exciting
Speaking to United's official website, the Swede said: "I've seen a little bit of Marcus Rashford and he looks exciting.
"It's just a question of bringing him from talented prospect to a fully-fledged star."

Competition for places at Old Trafford will be fierce this season, with Jose Mourinho swooping for Larsson's compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And the 34-year-old is expected to make his first appearance in a red shirt when United face off against Turkish side Galatasaray in Gothenburg on Saturday.
He could even feature alongside Rashford, whose eight goals from 18 games helped old boss Louis van Gaal bow out with the FA Cup trophy.
