The Red Devils have shortlisted the France international as a back-up option should they fail to re-sign Juve midfielder Paul Pobga.
Bookmakers BetStars had United as 1/4 favourites to land Matuidi at the start of July, but their odds have since tumbled to 11/4 as they focus their efforts on Pogba.
And now Serie A champions Juve have emerged as 6/4 frontrunners to land the 29-year-old as they prepare for life without the 23-year-old Pogba.
Matuidi, who is 8/11 to remain at Ligue 1 giants PSG this summer, is reportedly available for around £30million, according to the Mirror.

Juventus favourites to sign Manchester United target Blaise Matuidi
“During Euro 2016 all the talk linked Blaise Matuidi with a move to Old Trafford, but with Man United focused on capturing Paul Pogba, Italian Champions Juventus have now entered the race,” a BetStars spokesman said.
“Juve are now frontrunners to secure Matuidi’s signature at 6/4, ahead of United who have drifted drastically to 11/4 having been odds on at 1/4 to sign the Frenchman at the start of July.”
