Man Utd prepare to hijack Man City deal: Red Devils to submit £29m bid in coming days
MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up a bid for Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, according to reports.
Gabriel Jesus is attracting interest from a host of top clubs
Jose Mourinho is eager to make one more signing before the transfer window shuts, having already acquired three players.
And according to Brazilian newspaper Estadao, United are preparing to submit a bid of around €35million (£29m) to secure his services.
Jesus is understood to have £25m release clause but the Red Devils look to have offered above the asking price in order to show they are serious about signing him.
United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be able to land him for a discounted price however, due to a clause in his contract.
The Red Devils will have to act quickly as reports today suggested rivals City are leading the race to sign him and are close to agreeing a deal.
City have been interested in the Palmeiras star for some time but they now face competition from their rivals.
United were linked with making a bid for Jesus earlier this year but his agent denied there was any contact, but he did talk up a move for his client.

At the time, Cristiano Simoes said: “There wasn’t even a contact, at least not with me or the player.
“Well, United are a world football force. Everyone dreams of playing there, but the thing is not so simple.
"We need to analyse aspects regarding the adaptation to food, climate, language, social interaction, among other things.”
Jesus has netted 26 goals in 67 first team matches for the Brazilian outfit and also boasts a record of 54 goals in 48 games for the youth team.
