Man City keen on Euro 2016 star: Pep Guardiola has worked with him before
MANCHESTER CITY are weighing up a move for Germany international Joshua Kimmich, according to reports.
Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich impressed for Germany at Euro 2016
The 21-year-old joined Bayern Munich from Red Bull Leipzing last January.
And his form for the Bundesliga giants saw him included in Joachim Low’s Euro 2016 squad.
Kimmich, a defensive midfielder by trade, was deployed at right back in France and starred in all six of the reigning World Champions’ games as they reached the semi-finals stage.
According to the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola has now set his sights on being reunited with the player he took to the Allianz Arena.
The Spaniard is set to remodel the squad that finished fourth under Manuel Pellegrini last season and he has already brought in Kimmich’s international team-mate Ilkay Gundogan in a £21million deal.
Manchester City's Guardiola: Mourinho's presence can help me
Schalke star Leroy Sane is also on City’s radar and he could be followed through the Etihad entrance by Kimmich if the former Barcelona boss gets his way.
However, Bayern Munich are thought to rate him highly and a fee of at least £20m would be required for them to consider letting him go.
There had been speculation that Kimmich would be a direct replacement for City stalwart Pablo Zabaleta, though reports in Spain have quashed rumours that the Argentinian is set to leave this summer.
